It is time to begrudgingly get motivated in our home office. While I would love to tell you how fabulous it almost is, you've already seen pictures so that ship has sailed.

House Beautiful
While I don't currently work outside of the home, my husband's job is seemingly never ending and requires a lot of his working from home. From the couch. I'm not the slightest bit interested in kidding myself to think he will ever forgo his usual spot on the couch to work in the upstairs office, but I will still make some small concessions to make sure that he could if he chose. But for the most part this room will be dedicated to all my shenanigans.

House Beautiful
Let's face it, this room is going to hold a ton of books, magazines, piles of fabric, crafting supplies (although I do not 'craft', I am well supplied), wrapping paper and acoutrement, etc. etc. Yes, its a luxury to have a dedicated room for all my fancyjunk, but when my child gets out of diapers I could totally have a wildly successful importing/exporting company like that. You don't know. And wouldn't that be silly to not even have an office?
House Beautiful - Every time I see that painting (a lot) I think for a second "Arkansas!"
It will also serve as an extra guestroom with a sleeper sofa or something like it, and I envision it being a future homework and TV room for the Peeps (who will NEVER have a TV or computer in his own room, I feel strongly about this and will not be persuaded otherwise).

Any organization tips to share? Do you 'decorate' your office, or do you prefer a mostly functional space?

My little buddy has the sweetest heart. He is a prayer warrior at 2 years old, I tell ya. I know this is terrible, but I've gotten a little frustrated at having to say a blessing over every morsel of food and every sip that enters his mouth. Bad Mom, but you hear me right? Does every single goldfish cracker have to prayed over? (Ed. note- Yes, you heathen.) Lately I have encouraged Baylor to pray by himself. At Publix the other day he ate a banana while we shopped and when we got to the checkout he LOUDLY announced "I ate a banana! I prayed but my Mom didn't!"
Love the Baylor story! I bet you two are a hoooot together. We do have a home office current (and will NOT in the new house). Honestly it is just another room to keep clean. It is a place for the kids to do crafts...which is a daily thing. The only thing I like about it, it has a door!! In the days of lap tops, why would you want to close yourself off?
ReplyDeleteI like the pictures for organized "stuff". I like the idea of a pull out sofa and TV. We DO NOT have TV in kids rooms (nor toys). Do you have a playroom?
I could not agree with you more on NOT having a TV or PC in either of my kids rooms..... with that said - we have a home office which is nice but since my hubby is a total slob - it's always a mess - I'll post a pic for you. Will you post pics of Baylor's big boy room?
ReplyDeleteNikki~ Yes! Our eat-in kitchen serves as a perfect playroom. No toys in the bedroom here either.
ReplyDeleteAlison~ I know, I'm silly and waiting on one little pillow to get here before I post the completed pictures. You can come over any time for a sneak peek!
