This is Me, the Beginner

I wish I was more of a DIY'er.  For one thing, I'm not very creative.  "Yes you are!" No, I'm not.  I have a great memory and remember things I've seen that I like.  If  it seems somewhat doable, without too much stress or skill involved, I will sometimes attempt to recreate it.

How cool is this dresser??  This was painted using a piece of lace as a stencil.  I wouldn't think of that in a million years.

Look at this adorable lampshade over at Jen-uinely Inspired.  Yes, she made it.  Clever clever girl.

And no, DIY doesn't always have to be some genius little creation...it can literally just mean you did it yourself.  Or rather, it does literally mean you did it yourself.  My husband and I, God bless our little idiot hearts, just kinda stink at doing stuff.  And then because neither of us are very good at it, when we get together to attempt something it gets ugly.  We almost had to work up some divorce papers the last time we changed out the front door knob.

DIY bathroom??  HAHAHAHA! Never.

Master Bathroom!, Two white panels on both sides of the vanity are actually doors to two large hidden closets. We wanted plenty of hidden storage (medicine cabinets, closets) so that the space wouldnt look cluttered with stuff. Paint color used in the room: Valspar, Old Faithful. Vanity Lighting: Restoration Hardware , Bathrooms Design
From DIY Network, the least watched TV station in our house.  Not really, I've never even clicked on OWN.

My husband has convinced me to leave him alone about it, that I have to just GET OVER IT.  Not his thing.   Fine, but I'm not giving in without a fight.  My New Year's Memorial Day Resolution is to learn how to do some stuff myself.  I can put together some Ikea furniture and I've painted a few dinky things lately...but I'm ready to tackle some bigger jobs.  I'll keep you in the loop, you know this.

Are you a DIY'er?  Or would you rather cut a check than cut the grass?

I know I only ever talk about my 2 year old, but I have a hubby too!  He helped with the whole having a 2 year old thing.

We had a WONDERFUL weekend on the beach!  Hope you all enjoyed your three days together.

  1. Awe, thanks for the blog mention Lauren! If it makes you feel any better...sometime my DIY projects turn out horribly wrong. Good for you for not giving up! You can do! I know you can :)

P.S. I'm totally jealous that your Memorial Day weekend was sunny enough to spend at the beach. It rained here in N. Calif.
