This is All About Armoires

I've already confessed that I spend the better part of my weekends at thrift stores.  It has always been so odd to me that there are so many armoires to choose from!  Seriously, in a larger store there are usually 10-15 large pieces.  I spoke with the owner of one of my favorite estate sale stores (Are you local to the Palm Beach area?  Must visit Decor Once More) recently and she said that she cannot sell them.  Apparently since the rise of the flat screen television, people don't buy armoires anymore.  Duh!  I never thought of that....probably because I've never thought of armoires as TV-holders.  There are so many wonderful options for these room-stealing beauties.  I dream of one day having a bathroom big enough for a huge armoire to hold towels, soaps and other little lovelies.

Love the mirrored fronts on these.

What a statement this cabinet makes in this room!

Shocking yellow anyone?

Why do I think this is Tia Zoldan's home?  Could be, adore the green with the bright turquoise at the forefront.

Aaah...blue.

Gray is lovely...look at those knobs.

Okay, it would be a little difficult to recreate the carved ebony armoire from a famous museum in Amsterdam, but you could get the glossy black look easily!

An armoire strictly for Christmas decor?  What a luxury.

A bar!  Would you ever think that gorgeous french armoire was crammed with liquor?

A pantry.

Ummm, all your pink stuff?

A sewing cabinet.

If you've ever shopped for beautiful nursery or children's furniture, you know it can get $$$$.  Don't you do it!  These gorgeous pieces could be easily emulated in your home for a fraction of the cost.  Seriously, these can reach the $1k range.  What?

I have an armoire that is crying out to be painted and this has gotten my creative juices flowing!  Maybe in the hallway packed with books...I have a book problem, but that's another post.

Baylor Says...

I just asked Baylor if he said anything funny yesterday and he said "Oh yes, I said Boom Boom Pow!"  He is Fergilicious.

  3. I just repurposed one of our armoires into my son's nursery. It was my first purchase in my first home....so I couldn't bear to part with it and we no longer need it for TVs. Some great inspiration here. Love the grey one with the beautiful knobs!
