So I'm betting some of y'all couldn't sleep last night after seeing my closet. It's okay, you can say it. Here's the thing...we recently sold all of our bedroom furniture, so the contents of all of those drawers made their way into our closet. And they did not do so in an orderly fashion.
We've got to get serious about a closet renovation, and how! My original thought was to remove one hanging section and put in a nice tall chest for our folded clothes. Well then your mind starts to wander into all the other things you'd like to do (like rip out the ridiculous, worthless, space sucking shelves that are in the corners of the closet- stupid builders) and pretty soon and entire re-do is in order. Let's get inspired!
Way back when we weren't having kids, we dreamed of turning an extra bedroom into a huge closet. Well, I use the word 'we' loosely but he's pretty easy to pull onboard. These are lovely to look at though and I like checking out color combinations, even if the square footage is a pipe dream.

He has a ton of clothes...way more of a fashionista than me, actually.
Okay, I gotta give big huge points to Jen from Made by Girl who DIY'd her closet with help from her hubby and Ikea.

And I certainly can't have a closet post without the 2 most famous closets in the history of closets.

Really want that gray...
Wow.
What does your dream closet look like (dark stained wood, painted, wallpapered)? Have you redone a closet in a super organized OCD kind of way and have some tips on things to include? Want to send me pictures of your closet so we can judge you too?
Baylor has a big bank that we keep on the kitchen counter to hold all our spare change. Yesterday when his Dad came home with some checks from work Baylor ran around waving them insisting on putting them in his "college!".
Have to admit, I'm a huge fan of that display case-as-shoe rack. If only I had beautiful shoes to display. I doubt it would have the same effect with UM flipflops and ratty Fila sneakers.

ReplyDeleteYou know, I am ashamed to say that I have never thought about my closet so much... I am more of a drawer girl. Is that okay? I can't imagine hanging tank-tops. Though, the idea of having a chair/bench in my closet and enough space to use it sounds... luxurious.
ReplyDeleteI am really starting to LOVE this blog! LOL My husband always gets wierded out when I say, "You know, Lauren thinks..." He always looks puzzles and asks, "Lauren who?" and I say, "Lauren the blogger!" You're part of our home now. LOL
Being someone who hangs everything except pjs and work out clothes, I like the color coded one. Drawers do not work for me...takes about a week to get get destroyed.
ReplyDeleteOur new closet will be sooooo dreamy. I can't wait. Dark wood shelving and sectioned off hanging cubbies. "this one is for my skirts, this one is for my short tops, this one is for my long pants (that's what my boys call pants...shorts are called short pants :) Now, my only problem, I'm going to have ONE naked closet! Remember...if I haven't worn it in a year, it is gone. Not able to replace at this time, but I'm noticing that I would love to have 10 things I love over 1,000 I don't.
I want the clothes and other goods that come with all of these closets!!!:) my 106 yr. Old home is very low on closet space. It is fun to dream...when I win the lottery!!:)
ReplyDeleteMarcee that cracked me up. I was thinking that when I post 'afters' of my closet people are going to be real sad that I have 3 pairs of flip flops and one pair of church heels.
ReplyDeleteI love it Autumn! Haha.
ReplyDeleteNikki- the 1 year rule is in full force here. And I will admit that at 35 I have finally (mostly) stopped buying cheap clothes. Just not worth it in the long run.
Ashley, I agree! These pictures make me realize my wardrobe is not very fun.
