This is a Little Monday Morning Honesty

Sorry for the absence.  Blogger was down Thursday and Friday which fortuitously coincided with my brain being down.

Hey, this is embarrassing.  You know that one room in your house that you pretend doesn't exist?  That you would rather get a root canal than let anyone you actually know see?  The one that keeps accumulating junk and you swear you're going to tackle it "this weekend!"  Yeah, I have three of those.

Look, I am nothing if not honest.  I can assure you these are real and they're not spectacular.  Not so much as a sock has been moved in these pictures, this is as is baby.  Most people's houses are probably the cleanest on a Monday morning, I'm guessing.  Spent the weekend cleaning and gussying it up.  Yeah, I don't do that on the weekends.  I do that during school and naptimes.

This is probably a little bit about accountability too....if I just lay it all out there now then you'll all just know and there won't be any secrets here.  Maybe you'll leave enough nasty comments that I'll get a little kick in the pants.  Let's GO!

Laundry room

Yikes.

Hey, you have a 2 year old and a bunch of poison laying around.  Good parenting! (I am blessed with a child who, so far, has no interest in getting into stuff.  He cares about his toys and only his toys.  I'm not justifying, I'm just saying.)

The view coming in from the garage.

So the laundry room needs some serious TLC, I know.  Isn't it tough to move the laundry room up your priority list though?  It's the last place I want to spend time, but maybe I'd be more interested in actually doing laundry if this room were a little nicer.

OH DEAR.  Please take a deep breath....this is my closet.  Well, our closet, which makes it even sadder.  My poor husband.

That was my side, are you scared?

Entering the closet....some old blinds on the floor that have needed to go in the attic for going on 6 months or more.  That's normal, right?

His side is a little bit better, if you don't count the broken down ironing board that nobody has bothered to throw out since it came down a very, very long time ago.

Peepie likes to pull down all our belts to try on....Moms doesn't like to put them back when he's done.

Right about now I imagine you're thinking something along the lines of "hey Lauren, how can you spend half a day trolling through consignment stores and spray painting silly busts to hang fake pearls on?  CLEAN YOUR HOUSE."  I really do hear you, I do.  I'm just ignoring you and playing the movie Diner in my head.

Here's the biggie....the office. Merciful heavens.  This room has rotated everything in our house through it in the last year.  We've got that certain amount of 'junk' that I'm assuming everyone has that has been stored in here, and then every time another room gets redone, all the leftovers get shoved in here as well.

Old pictures that need a home....baby clothes waiting to be turned into a quilt (haaaaa, yeah, that's going to happen.).

But look at the pretty Victoria Hagan roman shade!  At least we know it will be a great room...someday.

And right now I can't even walk into it because it's holding the guest bed that was cleared out of the new big boy room (afters are coming!!).

Have I sufficiently humiliated myself yet?  Are you like "woooo, can't wait to see the afters!  I'm scrolling...."  Ummm, yeah, there are no afters.  These are 'presents'.

What kind of person posts horrific 'before' pictures like these for strangers with no 'afters' to promptly redeem themselves?

A crazy person.

Some beautifulness to cancel out a little of the above unpleasantness.  He's getting so big. *sniff*

Let's go to school!  And maybe get a haircut soon.

  3. Oh, you are much braver than me! LOL. My three rooms are my guest bedroom (eternal dumping ground, I swear!), dining room (temporary holding place of "stuff"), and my craft room (always a mess). Oh...and the garage, I forgot about the garage . Your little boy is too cute for words!

  4. Ok this my shorten post from the long one I just lost :(.
Basically, I wish I could get a hold of these rooms! Not design wise, but for organization. I should have been a professional organizer. If you haven't used it in a year...TOSS IT! Let's start with the laundry. Paint it, take out the sink, get some hooks, rug, and baskets over the AWESOME machines for your laundry stuff. I have about 30 basket's in my house for "kids stuff". This room is YOUR foyer (like mine).

As for your closet...it is hard to keep them organized unless it is the size of a bedroom (like the ones you posted before). Take that motto, "get rid of it, if you haven't worn it in a year".

I have one closet I'm ashamed of...we all do! But get your room clutter to the size of a closet. Then go from there!
