Are ya'll so ready for me to stop talking about this trip and get back to business as usual? Me too, especially since I got home 2 days ago. Thank you so much for indulging me as I use this as a journal for me and my family. This trip was the most amazing journey...not only through the beautiful countryside of the UK, but also of wonderful time spent with my Mom and sister. Since we have a big family, we have never spent such a large amount of time together, alone, just us girls. It was awesome!
Since the wireless connections were so shaky throughout the whole week, I got way off of my timetable of posting and am just going to wrap up the last 3 days.
Before leaving Anglesy on Thursday morning, we mailed a postcard to Brian, our fabulous host at Thornbury Castle who was absolutely shocked when we told him of our intentions to make such a long drive. His concern for us led him to print out detailed suggestions for our continuing journey and so we wanted to let him know we made it to the Northern tip of Wales without incident!
I'm mailing a postcard! In Wales! Facinating, no?
Fabulous views from our drive...
No idea how these men were standing upright...special cleats?
Welsh mountain goats! 5 feet in front of us as we got out to appreciate the vistas.
Crossing over again to England and the Wirral Peninsula, we stopped at Dunham Massey hall, an important stop for us Masseys in our geneology quest.
This beautiful estate is a National Park of sorts in England.
Then we decided, for one night, to just stop wherever we got the notion...daring explorers, we are. We decided on Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare's home. We were now bearing down on the Big Day, and as such the entire country began their 4 day national Holiday and the town was completely dead. Like Shakespeare!
A FABULOUS little town.
We ate at the Garrick Inn, the oldest restaurant in Stratford. It was so delicious.
My beef and ale pie. YUUUUUUM.
Good morning UK! It's your wedding day!!! Well, their wedding day, but we are all celebrating. Everywhere we went, there was a watch party being set up.
Local children in Stratford drew pictures of the happy couple.
I'm ready for the wedding! A jaunty flower is festive, right?
This young lady was so excited she had to bust out the robot for our enjoyment.
CROWDS and crowds of people stacked up and climbed walls for the best view of....nothing really. Everywhere we went, there was nothing to see. If you had any hope of being anywhere near the festivities, you should have been camped out already. Alas, we were not.
We got it into our heads that this man and his mother knew what they were doing, so they unknowingly became our tour guides for the day.
Near the castle...
We did get up close to the Goring Hotel where Kate Catherine and her family were staying.
A little London touring on Friday and Saturday...
...and our trip was finally at a close. An experience I will never forget.
"You had fun over the pond?" (his father taught him that) And every few minutes since I've returned, "you not going back to England!" I think I was misssed!

I loved the pictures! And so happy for you to have this wonderful opportunity with your mom and sister.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to catch up on the phone :)
