Uggh, slacker blogger. Do you ever have those days where you just feel immobile? Like you have a million things to do but you just can't wrap your brain around them all so you do nothing? Is this something I should be sharing with a therapist instead of blog readers? Moving on...
Just got word that the new dining room table is being delivered on Friday!! Woooohooooo!!! I'm really super excited that I managed to slide this in right before I will be on a long time spending freeze. So let's get to some befores.
Before before before
People, I implore you. Please do not buy your artwork from the airport Hilton on a rainy Saturday morning.
We have had this table and chair set for 9 years now (!). I loved this when I bought it for our tiny little apartment; it was exactly what I was looking for. So obviously I want something different now, but there is nothing glaringly offensive about this table. Simple dark wood and I have loved having it (and man did I get it cheap).
Side note: I planned on moving this set to my husbands new office, but he is balking at setting up a breakroom. Should I save it for when he inevitably changes his mind? My garage is packed to the gills with furniture and I just don't have another inch to spare (nor do I want to). I think I should try and ditch it superfast on Craigslist. What should I list it for? If it were in better condition I would consign it to my awesome friend Didi at Sustained Style for the Home. If you are local to SoFla, you have to check out her store!
And I LOVE the china cabinet which is antique and was my great grandmother's. I'm not sure where (if anywhere) it will fit in after the changes. I'm not afraid to paint it and move it in a bathroom, and yes I know the leg is crooked. I love it, alright? I do wish I'd done something with all the random stuff on top for these pics, however.
Okay, and now with the new old chairs. Before before...
So it's not really crucial to share this stage of the game, only that I planned on doing so long before I heard the table was coming on Friday. Kind of a superfluous post. Indulge me! Here are my thoughts on the chairs so far...too feminine. And like I said before, I haven't hung the chandeliers yet. So I'm really leaning heavily towards ditching any floral print fabric I originally planned on for the 3 side chairs. Remember I'm still on the hunt for a long bench for one side and all three chairs will go on the other. But for now, I need somewhere to sit. Also have commentary on the dreamed about wing chairs and your feedback!
I'm thinking leather. Love the durability with the 2 year old. As much as I adore the slipcovered chairs, his has already been washed 3 times in 2 weeks. It really should be washed every night, if you want to know the truth. My plan is to pick a blue out of those chairs in the living room and find a leather to match.
And don't worry about my existing turquoise beaded chandy! I adore that thing and am moving it over here to our entryway.
FINALLY! The last ugly light fixture in my house is leaving forever.
I'll post some material options when I post pics of the new table!! And then y'all have to start helping me with chair finishes, because I'm lost as a goose on that one.
I'm sure that I am far from alone in my opinions on what happened in the state of Florida yesterday so I will not ramble on about it except to say that I need a little medication and a lot of prayer. I am angry. But this I know for sure: I am far far from a perfect Mom. But I love my child beyond all reason and beyond all measure and I will never ever let anything happen to even one hair on his big ol little head.
Merciful God please watch over the babies whose parents don't.

omg, your house is really nice! and, love that stairway entrance. i'm not that good at design. but i do want to join you on upcoming thrift jaunts and auctions!
