I'm going to start with something positive. The husband's office looked much better in person than it did in the crazy phone pics he sent me in Mississippi. However, it is a complete wreck in need of major fluffing.
Right in the entry, where the lucite console should go (and is now...I didn't get a snap of it yesterday) is our 10 year old media console. Of course it is. Because boys do not have the capability of distinguishing between the two.
Really? I mean, really. Breakroom honey, not front room.
The tiny little front reception area...you'll see what makes it so tiny in just a second. I'm loving the gray we picked for the walls and the blonde wood we chose for the floors. Everything is going to be changed here, the furniture is too big for the space.
LOVE this gorgeous antique semicircle reception desk. Do you see what I see in the left side of the picture?
Why yes, it is a huge obnoxious column in the middle of the reception area! Literally right as you walk in the door. Originally it was surrounded by a heinous, paneled built in counter/desk area that we had torn out. The column was supposed to go with it but it was discovered to be the only thing holding up the entire 8 story building and had to stay. Grrrrr...
I think the solution is going to be to flip everything around so that the receptionist is level with the entry and a large mirror is on the far wall so that she will have full view of the clients as they come in. Are you dozing off?
View from reception to the central office area where paralegal staff will be located (4 private offices and a conference room open to here). Another gorgeous, carved antique desk I picked up locally. I am forlorn that the original leather top was slightly damaged and discolored in a few spots as it held court in our garage for 4 months waiting for the move. Another reception solution may be to swap out desks with this one.
I wish you could see this chair better, I'm nuts about it. Modern and chrome and $25. Yes, it's just randomly hanging out in no man's land until it finds a home.
LOVE the conference room table, another find from Decor Once More. Of course my husband put our old kitchen chairs around it. Of course he did. I have some amazing white leather and chrome office chairs on their way.
My husband's office. Love the coffee table and the artist's lamp made from golf clubs, but not loving the lamp in the midde of said coffee table. Is that where men think they go? Do you have a lamp in the middle of your coffee table?
The view makes everything better for a moment. Man, I wish I could look out that window all day whilst making PB & J and kissing boo boos. Everything in here is getting moved somewhere else.
Beautiful armoire, but it isn't going to work in his office. This will probably find a home in the center area and a large (slimmer profile) bookshelf that couldn't fit into the building elevator is currently being cut in half to be put in its place.
Let's see that lamp on the coffee table trick one more time...
Yeah, still no.
Hey honey! Aren't you glad I brought a measuring tape, camera, and a two year old to interrupt you today? I thought so. (Beautiful solid cherry desk a consignment find.)
I'm going to deal with the reception area first and then make my way around the office. I bought a rug yesterday on impulse and it looks waaaay too yellow and busy with the printed chairs, so it's going back. I'm thinking something extremely neutral and y'all are clear on my seagrass obsession, so help me out here. Keep in mind the chairs may leave regardless, they are large and in charge.
Rug...
Small brass trunk in lieu of coffee table...
Lots of relocating happening this weekend...stay tuned.
Let's hear your ideas, I need them! We have a blank canvas, so throw anything out there that's not too officey.
"You're really pretty!" when he wants something.
