I picked a great night to start documenting my auction escapades for y'all because there were some awesome things for sale and two great friends came with me and they were hilarious. It's tough to describe the usual auction crowd without sounding like the biggest snob on the planet...because I'm not. I just recognize and appreciate the vast differences between us all. Diplomatic enough? Great, moving on.
I was there to scope out this gorgeous Persian rug...
With all that furniture on it, I knew it was going to go late in the night so I buckled in. Some other stuff that caught my eye...
The auctioneer in action. Everything is "very niiiice" and I love it when he sells two things at a time "for one money!" Hilar.
Why is that man waving 2 guns in the air? It made me very nervous.
The auction staff gives me the major giggles.
I am not lying when I tell you this is an experience. Old generator anyone?
Random yard decorations?
More of the rug is starting to show and I'm getting nervous and excited. It's for the future (too long for an explanation, but if you know what I mean you get it), so I really can't justify a lot when I have many other current needs desires.
But the colors!!
And it's HUGE. 15' x 18' and perfect for my family room. This rug would be $$$$$ new if you could even find something that large and amazing.
Alright enough with the rug.
Wait, what?
Is that Clint Eastwood as Werewolf?
Ahh, looky loo....I came home with 12 of those gold banded crystal goblets. Score!
Look at that fuschia and green velvet fabric on those chairs. Really pretty.
So I talk with my hands. A LOT. This is not a positive trait at an auction. I wish I had photos of the $600 dishes I came darn close to bringing home because I was telling my girlfriend some goofy story about something or other and waving my hands around like a lunatic.
I also wish I had photos of the gorgeous french down sofa I passed on for not a lot of money at all. Boo hoo (I have regrets)!!! My husband looks at me like I'm nuts when I come home and tell him about the fabulous things I turned down for nothing.
Extra crazy this week since I whiffed on that beautiful rug.
Ahhh, there's always next week....
Him: "Do you like me?"
Me: "Are you kidding?" (It's a routine)
Him: "Do you love me?"
Me: "I love you more than pizza."
Him: "I love you more than cars!"
*swoon*
Me: "Can we kiss and tickle?"
Him: "How about just one kiss. But no tickle and no fanny grope."
