Overshare

So sorry for my mini Facebook rant last night.  So sorry about it that I am compelled to clarify further and dig myself a deeper hole.

HomeGoods rug I saw yesterday, reminded me of this Pinterest photo

Just so you know, I have no problem with a $3000 sofa.  It's actually not that bad if you can afford it and want to invest in a quality, forever piece of furniture.  The problem lies in only (purposefully, I'm standing firm here) presenting that option as if it's an everyday whimsical purchase for most people.  When it is identical to something you can find on the cheap.  And you're a design blogger, so you know this.  That just bugs me.

$400 consignment sofa, pretty much brand new . Obviously we would 86 the pillows.

The list goes on and on....there are bloggers who act like they wouldn't have anything less than $1000 throw blanket on their sofa.  Again, that's fine if it's true!  If it's not true, and you work a 40 hour job like everyone else and have no discernible fortune socked away and we all know you shop at HomeGoods like the rest of the world, then please it's enough already.  I don't need somebody to make me feel bad about the fact that I can't spend $4000 on a chandelier.  There are other options out there and you know it.  You don't have to be a budget blog, you just have to be honest.  Or not, maybe there are people who like reading about someone's fancy pants fake life.  (I too am obsessed with Real Housewives, so this is getting a little pot meets kettle.)

The fakest fakers of all the fakers

Please don't make us feel like a Renoir is the only thing worth hanging in our homes when we know you buy Etsy art.

Here's a good point to add before I hit 'publish'...I have a super great designer friend who has incredibly rich clients and fills every room with $40,000 paintings and $10,000 custom sofas and $250 a yard fabrics and I ADORE hearing about it.  And I love reading bloggers who talk about the same for their clients.  Their CLIENTS.  But they don't pretend it's their life.

I pin this stuff!  I admire it.

And the opposite is true...there are bloggers who act like they live in a house built with used popsicle sticks and chewing gum and you know that table came straight from Hickory Chair stop lying.

Don't I sound furious???  I'm really not, I just tend to go on tangents and then I talk and explain myself to death until I sound like a lunatic when I'm really not even mad.

Point!  I hope that I will always be honest here.  I know that some people think it's creepy to fill your house with consignment store finds or shop at Goodwill when you can probably afford to buy a decent piece of new furniture.  And I'm sure there are people that have dropped by here and promptly high tailed it out when they see I'm not afraid to pay someone to paint my walls when I clearly have two working arms and stay at home with my child.  You can't please everyone, but you can be honest.  Always.

I'm scared you might hate me now, but I'm not scared to say this.

Be still my heart.
