Am I the only person who doesn't have any plants in my house? I feel kinda dumb. Not only do I not know what kinds to buy, I really don't even know where to put them. I mean I get that a tree goes in a corner-ish (I bought a fiddle leaf fig finally...keep reading)...
Obviously I need 2 now.

But what's that? Is that more of a picture kind of thing, or can I just randomly have a pot in the middle of the room? Kinda near my Mork from Ork chair. (Ed. Note: Wow, you are ancient.)
I was really trying to get my eyeballs on some pots. It was difficult for me to picture what kind of planter to buy.
Well, there's that. I'm not sure I'm digging the stand/anything less than a tree on the floor. What do you think here?
I like hanging plants! But maybe just for a porch. What do you think?
Love that a fiddle leaf can really do this- lean towards the main light source. I stuck mine in the side window, hoping it leans towards the east facing patio doors.
Here's a great guide I found through A Cup of Jo... 8 easy houseplants for people with black thumbs. Gives a little background into each and how to take care of them. I have a ponytail palm in my yard, so that's weird.
I've always been jealous of people who have the wherewithal and the opportunity(?) to just grab some pretty foliage from their yards and pop it in jars and vases around their home.
This is a fantastic and long list from BHG. With so many choices, now I'm concerned I'll go in the complete opposite direction to 'crazy plant lady'. I struggle with balances in my life. I'm an extremist from way back.
I finally got my hands on a fiddle leaf fig. They are not to be found in any of the nurseries around my house. I've seen them at Mecox for $$$ and just wasn't willing to spring. This one was at the local greenmarket for 20 bones.
I'm still in the throes of a pillow crisis (see what I did there? "Throes"? Heh.)
I don't know much about 'potting'. Should I be taking the tree out of the original container and re-potting it in the planter? I just set it in there for now.

Naturally I want a big old fabulous oriental planter, but they don't carry those at Lowe's. How annoying. So for now I just picked up one of those typical deals that looks like it weighs a hundred pounds but is actually some sort of styrofoam, know what I'm talking about? I'm so boring, I just painted it blue.
Do you have houseplants? What's your fave? How many is too many for one room?
3 years, 3 months, 24 days
The boys took a trip to Gander Mountain (outdoorsy store) yesterday for funzies. My husband is weirdly obsessed with the thick, wool, sportsman socks and has a gajillion pairs (we live in tropical south florida, hello).
Hubs- "Baylor, look at these awesome socks! Do you like them?"
Baylor- "Yes, but Mommy whines when you buy too many socks."
HAAAAAAAAAA.

Thanks, now I want a fiddle leaf fig! And I have two black thumbs! Yours looks great in your living room. The only plant in our home are the two ivy topiaries on either side of the kitchen sink, and one of the poor topiaries is on it's 5th life. Who kills ivy? That would be me!
