So I got the new Ballard Designs catalog today....

Did you read this post I wrote last week? This post? How about this one?
I might be intrigued.

You love that table!
ReplyDeleteDayle! I am downright giddy!
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned about the 'feel' of zinc. The literal tactile feel. Is it scrapy, dry and chalky like a chalkboard. It looks it. I don't think I'd like eating on that surface. Kind of makes me feel squicky - like nails on a chalkboard, squicky.
ReplyDeleteWhatever Marcee, I missed the part where I said this is up for discussion.
ReplyDeleteI KID!! Seriously, that's not a bad point, but I don't find it an odd or chalky surface at all. My long term plans for this table is to have it down the center of my dreamy, redone kitchen as an eat-in island of sorts, so less casual. Probably seems a little casual for a dining room, but I'm a casual girl! These are usually in sunrooms or even outdoors actually.
So I'm going to stop in Mecox this morning and take a gander at their zinc and I'll touch all over it (maybe even rub my face on it!) and report back. XOXO
What I want to know is why the heck my new Ballards hasn't arrived yet! And that table. Oh my! I think it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I just set my new Ballard catalog down and thought I would check in on you! I just noticed this very table and thought about you. Too bad it isn't wider!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever looked up the price of zinc in sheets? We are having our hood made of zinc and I was very surprised to see the cost. Makes it worthwhile to find a table and a "metal guy" and have him make it for you. I bet your handy man could do it.
Nikki- that was the plan actually, but I've been looking for a table for almost 2 years now and just can't find exactly what I want. I've been looking for a thin one! It is very hard to find them skinny like this...I wanted 30", I love the intimate feel of thin tables, not to mention I have a narrow dining room. Most are at least 40" though. This table is exactly what I've been searching for, I cannot believe Ballard made it. Woooooo hoo!!!
ReplyDeleteoh then perfect!!!! I love those find!
ReplyDeleteDid you rub your face on it yet? I'm still waiting for a report.
