Everyone has that one store, right? The one that, when you know you're going to have a few minutes to pop in you get a little thrill. Eeee! For me that store is, by a huge insurmountable margin, Mecox Gardens.
Oh Mecox, how do I love thee....the place where my zinc table obsession put down roots and began blooming. And it's the only place in Palm Beach County so far that I've found a fiddle leaf fig tree, and I want it something fierce.
Unfortunately, I am sad to report that I am way too cheap for 99% of the things in Mecox. I love antiques, thrift store redos and estate auction finds too much. But for upscale decor inspiration, there is no place better.
So how about my favorite place to peek at gorgeous vignettes is having a vignette contest. All of their locations submitted a photo of an area in their store and they're competing amongst themselves. Let's talk about them and what we would buy if our budgets were expanded tomorrow.
Chicago
The Olympic art jumps out at me immediately and I love it. The free form wood coffee table is pretty awesome and I'd take any light fixture that can be found in this frame. Well done, Chicago. I'd like to see a little more color though.
Dallas
There is all the color....now this is darling. I would really like to see that blue leathery bench over there on the right. I'll take the flower painting (that looks like a monkey face, right?) and the linen lantern.
You would be shocked at how much I love East Hampton's entry considering how irrationally I am frightened by horses. There are really few things in here that I'm bananas over, but it all just comes together to make a sophisticated, smart and cozy space. I do la-la-love that coffee table and I can't even tell what it is. Copper?
Houston
I think Houston forgot to enter so the powers that be just took the first photo from their website, which happened to be captioned Big Green Balls and called it a day.
Los Angeles
HELLO GORGEOUS! Too much to talk about in the L.A. store...chaise lounge done right, anyone? I don't even like coral and that is beautiful. I'm even forgiving the crazy rooster in the background. Every little tiny thing in this space is amazing and I'll take it. Wrap it up.
Palm Beach
Score one for the home team....our Palm Beach store always looks amazing. I remember the first time I ever walked in, and the giddiness that overtook me. Those Bergere chairs are perfect.
NYC
The tri-sected dog is not my personal taste, and there is a little too much of the same blue in this particular vignette...but because it is all super awesome I'm forgiving them. That bench is also in our PB store and it rocks real hard.
Southampton
Lastly we have Southampton (with one 'H', did you know that? Spellcheck has informed me no less than 4 times in this post). So much awesome packed into such a little vignette. I need that X bookshelf in my life. That capiz shell chandelier is so fabulous, and am I the only one who notices the welting on that chair is absolutely flawless? I'm in an upholstery zone right now I guess.
Which is your favorite? Do you love Mecox like I love Mecox? I'll leave my vote in the comments later today...I want to know what you think first.
Him: "We only kick balls, not Mommies."
Me: "Haha, okay. I need to write that down for the blog."
Him: "Post it on Facebook!"
Wow.
