Let's start off with a quick poll: Does this interest any of you in the slightest? If y'all are bored to tears please tell me.
Oh I had such fun last night (until it took me 40 minutes to check out, uggh). Good spirits all around and lots of delirious giggles...I was tired. As I always am on Fridays.
First thing I saw...awesome little red bergere. There was a tiny little place where the upholstery had separated from the frame, but probably easily fixable. Some lucky duck snatched this up for a measly $30.
Elaborate armoire with interesting carving and inlaid detail- winning bid was a mere $100.
Oh my word, this estate was chock full of collections. Mugs....German stein mugs, Royal Daulton Toby mugs...loads and loads of mugs. Buyers at these auctions know their stuff because one mug would go for $15 and another for $150. All I knew was that it was taking FOREVER.
Two of these little chairs...you can't tell but they were so cute!! A cream fabric with fun pink piping and and buttons. But the fabric was pretty faded out. They went for nothing at $25.
How cool is this rattan chaise? No cushion, but nothing a quick trip to Pier 1 couldn't solve. Only $30.
This carved china cabinet was GORGEOUS and sold for $450, still quite a deal as I'm sure it cost $$$$.
Coral is always hot at these auctions. It's not really my thing, but I find myself interested since it's so trendy in blogland. The large piece went for $150, and the small coral with the lucite base sold for $60.
Sidebar: You know who sells some pretty good looking and affordable coral? Furbish.
Guess who scored these two hand-carved antelope (gazelle?) heads? Yours truly, for 80 bones. Don't side-eye, trust.
I LOVED this awesomely huge brass owl! But I was distracted and missed out. It sold for $22.50. Nice.
My first nude painting! Yes, I got it for $15. What do you think?
Oh man, what I considered the deal of the night pic is terrible and blurry....can you see these bamboo chinese chippendaleish chairs? I believe there were six of them with the table. Whole shabang went for $175. Lots of people have bought chairs just like that and paid more than that apiece.
This mammoth floor lamp was cracking me up...that is a very large man holding it, just to give you some perspective. It didn't sell, if you were wondering. I found out their 'in house' bidder number for stuff that doesn't sell.
One more tidbit that you'll not care a lick about but that killed me. Can you see this lady's face?? She was...not happy.
I'm pretty sure that she was from the family of the estate and was not overly thrilled with the money brought in. She was hand gesturing and infuriating all over the place. Hilarious. Maybe you had to be there.
So I came home $90 poorer but a naked lady and two animal heads richer.
How's your weekend working out for you?
