Now I know y'all remember the chaise lounge. There were some opinions about this one.
I really thought that I came up with the idea myself. Like I'm a genius or something, a fabulous furniture genius, if you will. Shiny gold! Greek key! Yes, "she's a brilliant fabulous furniture genius!" they'll say.
Oh.
Alright, so they'll say that about Suzanne Kasler instead.
Maybe they'll still think I'm kinda neat. Except the gold was not. working.
I won't bore you with the months of tedium I spent trying to get the gold just right. Glazes, solids, sprays, you name it...this sucker has 50 coats on it probably. There was even a mustard yellow layer. I promise, it's a real thing I read on the internet. To get that super bright gilded gold look...only not so much.
One day it finally hit me. When you're not crazy about the lines on a piece of furniture....don't paint them shiny gold!! Duh.
The picture looks better than real life. Seriously, it almost went in the dumpster a hundred times. (It was free, after all)
Okay, enough already. Fast forward, I decided on a chalky grey that is nothing to write home about so the fabric is the standout. Now I don't even see the wood detail that I wasn't crazy about, I see an amazing statement piece of furniture in my living room.
Yes, the cowhide is a new addition. This isn't it's forever home, but I really wanted to shock my husband who said "absolutely not" to a hide rug. (Please don't worry about my marriage...he knows that I know that he couldn't care less how I decorate. I think he was trying to prove that its pointless of me to demand he give an opinion when I'm probably going to ignore it anyway)
Don't you think it plays so nicely with the giraffe chairs? The pattern is a similar scale, which usually I would want to avoid, but here it balances the the room.
Needs more pillow. (Always) How about pink silk ikat?
So?! Not too shabby! Now if I could only learn to upholster myself, it really would have been free.

Baylor pointed out the giant heart stamps on his hands after school yesterday.
Me: "I think that means Ms. Mindy loves you."
Him: "I think that means EVERYBODY loves me."
Probably.
