Who you are into what you're gonna be. Sha-na-na-na-na-na-nuh-nah-nah...
It's here! A bright and shiny blank slate for us to recreate who we want to be. Okay, we didn't change schools, just years. Why does the promise of a big new chunk of time laid out before us inspire us (for at least a few days) to change a whole bunch of stuff that may or may not be really significant in the grand scheme of things?
And why don't we treat each new sunrise the same? I wish I was the kind of person that, when faced with the opportunity for change, emphatically said "NOW."
I've been known to make personal resolutions on my birthday each year, you know get a couple weeks jump on everyone else. But what about blog resolutions?
This made me laugh. A lot.
Stuff I want to see from now on around these parts:
1) MORE ORIGINAL CONTENT. Well, that's easy! Of course that's what everyone wants to see when they check out a new blog, right? I have some seriously stylish friends and family and acquaintances (and maybe neighbors? I'm not above knocking on doors.) and they are just going to have to let me expose them here.
My cousin Cathy's darling beachfront condo.
2) MORE OF MY OWN HOME. I mean y'all have to be wondering when this lazy woman is going to finish her bedroom, right? I know, I hear you. Why does life always have to get in the way of decorating? On tap for the next couple months:
- finished (or mostly finished) master bedroom
- guest bedroom progress
- laundry room sweet pajamas I need to work on the laundry room
- mini kitchen makeover (what?? score!)
Maybe the laundry will end up like this! (Spoiler alert: it won't. Did you see what it looks like now?)
3) PERSONAL INTERJECTION. Until now, I have mostly just laid everything out there for you to decide what's what. It's time for me to start giving it the business. I have opinions, dang it. (If you know me personally, you are stifling an eyeroll right now. Really?)
4) BE A PAL. I just have to start helping you fine people source some of the lovely things we see here. Because the point isn't to make you feel like your house is ugly...the point is to help you buy things to fulfill yourself. Wait, is that right?
Stuff.
5) LIKE ME. Eeeek. I struggle with self-promotion. Like really really struggle with it. I'm super stanky at sales. I had a sales job for 2 weeks once and instead of cold-calling (after someone yelled at me and made me cry), I would just sit in my car in a parking lot waiting out the day. I started this blog to simply entertain myself and my friends, but I certainly have future plans for which this will give me an audience. So I need to snap to it, make this something you want to read and something you want to tell your friends about. Like maybe you want to share it on Facebook? Or not, whichever I LOVE YOU ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? See.
What is #6? Lay it on me...what would you like to see change about this place in twenty twelve (is that what we're saying?)?
I use the speaker phone in my car a lot. So Peeps is always privvy to my conversation. I was talking to my husband the other day and the call dropped.
Baylor: "Did you press 1?"
Me: "Huh?"
Baylor: "ummm...if you have finished recording, you may hang up or press 1 for more options."
Do huh?
