I bet when you think "Girls Trip!", Kansas City is the first place that comes to mind, right? The greatest thing about spending a weekend in your girlfriend's hometown is that their Mom lives there! And Miss Nancy is the best kind of Mom...super fun and funny and always has little bits of wisdom to share.
And she's got style in spades! Her house is positively filled with bold color and things that she and her sweet husband love. Things they've collected or found and that hold meaning and are made of memories. How fun is this bedroom?
Since you know me, you know I went bananas over this campaign dresser. How awesome is this? Her husband's mother bought this for him in the '60s when he got his first apartment. I spent most of the weekend trying to convince them to let me take it home. No deal.
Such a cute room, love the houndstooth chair.
This amazing purple living room/library is the first thing you see when you walk in the house. So cute! I love nothing more than I love books, and to be surrounded by them in such a beautiful way would make me happy every day. Purple! Fabulous.
The adjacent dining room.
Fun little stepladder holds even more piles of goodies...along with a darling Nantucket purse.
I love that she's displayed her treasures, some from the 19th century, along with her books.
A delightful mural on her bright yellow walls when you walk in.
I could go on and on about Nancy's home and her precious family as well, but it suffices to say that this is a house where love is and you know it when you walk in. You know how you can just tell that someone has decorated their house exactly the way they love it? Not how magazines dictate, or with the trends, or what a crazy blogger says is cool...and if you do that, you'll always be happy with where you live. Don't you think?
Baylor loves to talk about time, loves watches and clocks and numbers and figuring out when "5 more minutes" will be. He has a little monkey watch that he adores. Yesterday he was playing with my watch and putting it on his little wrist and telling me what time it was:
"The big hand is on the 3 and the little hand is on the 6. It's monkey-thirty!"
