Keeping it Real ~ Beth's Home

When I started this blog I really hoped to spend a lot of time showcasing 'real' homes.  We all love to see fancy designer homes with magazine-styled perfect rooms.  But is that reality?  Or is it kind of like comparing ourselves to super models?  I rarely open Architectural Digest and think "YES!  I could totally have a house that looks like that."

Seeing homes that real people live in is a different kind of inspiring. So here's a special treat for you on this (oh so tired!) Monday...my friend Beth graciously gave me the thumbs up to share her home with you!  Now Beth has good taste.  Great taste, really.  But more than anything, what I love about Beth's home is that around every corner, you get the feeling that she knows her own taste and confidently sticks with it.  Let's go!

Her gorgeous entryway.  Want that mirror?  Try this one at Z Gallerie.  LOVE that Madeline Weinrib rug (drool)?  Similar here at West Elm.

To the right is the darling dining room.

LOVE the chandy and her new curtains.

Gorgeous painting by a local West Palm Beach artist (a recent investment by the couple) sits atop a fabulous buffet.

I adore these sconces.  It wouldn't be a home in South Florida with out a little starfish fun.

To the left of the entry is her GORGEOUS living room.  So light and bright and comfortable fancy (you know I love that).

The other side of the room.  How beautiful are those benches?

Amazing shell tassel detail on the tufted chairs...

Repeated on the sofa pillows...

The sunroom just off the living room is undergoing a fun redo.  It was a playroom, but her kids are growing up (sniff, right Beth?) so it's turning into a space for the whole family.  First purchase was this super modern and cool cream leather sectional, and some built-ins were added for funtionality.

We're going to pass the kitchen on the way to the family room, but don't stop too long or you'll just get jealous.  It's amazing.

LOVE her beautiful and spacious family room with all of the windows looking over her (insanely awesome) backyard.

How spectacular is that chair? Perfect.

Darling gourd lamp, and I wish I had a close-up of her carved wood coffee table.  Her pillows and accessories bring a little Morrocan flavor to this room.

I know it's dark, but I had to get a picture from the backyard.

Isn't Beth's house just fabulous?  Her bedrooms are wonderful too, but I didn't want to just go prowling around upstairs while bunko was going on.

Do you have a cute, 'real' home that you would like to share with us?  Send me some pics.

Bad parent alert.  I left the Peeps bedrail down the other night, thinking we'd just give it a try.  I mean how else do you know?  24 hours later as we're getting into bed:

Him: "I fell out of bed last night onto the wood."

Me (getting hysterical): "WHAT?! What happened, what did you do?"

Him: "I was bawling but you didn't come.  So I got back in bed and went to sleep."

Why don't you just stab me in the heart.
